What Is the FinStand?
The Adjustable FinStand® is a stay-in-place concrete form support designed to hold FinCap® and all JAWS® screed chairs when setting grade for elevated slabs on wood or metal decks.
It accepts 1/2"-13 threaded rod and provides up to 1-3/4" (45 mm) of vertical adjustment for precise slab elevation control.

How It Works
- Secure the FinStand to wood deck using nails or to metal deck using tek screws.
- Insert 1/2"-13 threaded rod (nylon or steel).
- Adjust height using nut and washer (up to 1.75" vertical adjustment).
- Attach FinCap or JAWS screed chair.
- Set screed rail and pour concrete.
The FinStand remains in place after the pour as a stay-in-place form.
Spacing Guidelines
Place a FinStand approximately every 3–4 feet depending on soil conditions, screed weight, placement method, and tolerance requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size threaded rod works with the FinStand?
The FinStand accepts 1/2"-13 threaded rod. Nylon rod can be cut on site. For slabs thicker than 8", steel threaded rod is recommended.
Can FinStand be left in the slab?
Yes. The FinStand is a stay-in-place form made of medical grade polypropylene and will not corrode.
How much weight will the FinCap + FinStand support?
Up to 800 lbs using nylon all-thread and up to 1,000 lbs using steel all-thread.
Can it be used with vapor barriers?
Yes. The FinStand and Base Plate 4.5 were designed for use with vapor barriers and may be integrated in accordance with ASTM E1643-09 and ACI 302.2R-06 guidelines.
What screeds can be used with the MAKO system?
Roller, hand, vibrating, truss, laser, or power screeds can all be used with MAKO Screed Support Systems.
